Reflections from FUTURE PROOF Conference in Bergen, Norway

 

In May 2025, I had the pleasure of speaking at the FUTURE PROOF Conference organised by the Rafto Foundation in Bergen, Norway. I joined the session "Accelerating impact – what are the leading companies doing?" to share insights from the WBA’s Corporate Human Rights Benchmark, Social Benchmark, and Gender Benchmark. It was a valuable opportunity to highlight how data and accountability can drive meaningful progress on human rights and gender equality across global value chains.

 

I also conducted a workshop for financial institutions, presenting WBA’s investor guidance on engaging companies on human rights and gender topics. It was encouraging to see the interest and commitment from Norwegian companies and financial actors in advancing responsible business practices.

This was my first visit to Norway – and Bergen lived up to its reputation as the city of rain! But between the showers, I caught glimpses of its incredible charm. The train ride from Oslo to Bergen was a definite highlight – a breathtaking journey I’d recommend to anyone visiting this beautiful country.
