It’s a wrap for this year’s UNRBHR Forum — the most inclusive, diverse, and honest multi-stakeholder business and human rights gathering I’ve attended. Kudos to the UNDP B+HR team and especially Dr. Harpreet Kaur for creating such a meaningful space.
One highlight was the conversation on Critical Metrics: Leveraging benchmarking to advance access to remedy. I explored how data can spotlight gaps, guide corporate action, and improve trust between companies and rightsholders. Benchmarking isn’t a silver bullet, but when combined with other tools, it can make accountability more concrete and measurable.
Another powerful exchange was with Human Rights Defenders. Hearing directly from those on the frontlines reinforced how essential it is to protect civic space, ensure their safety, and amplify their voices in shaping business conduct. Their recommendations were clear — companies must engage early, listen actively, and act on concerns raised by defenders.
Leaving the forum, I’m reminded that sustainable business is impossible without accountability, open dialogue, and the courage to address uncomfortable truths.
