Sustainable Finance is getting traction across Asia with adoption across private investors, development finance institutions and regulators. CSR Asia organised a session at the CSR Asia Summit 2019 titled - Sustainable Finance through a Gender Lens. The session was designed to explore how gender can be considered in decision-making processes in for capital allocation, and the business case for doing so.
I shared my views as a panelist, highlighting that the baseline for banks and investor action on gender is so low that some of the non-negotiables are treated as success stories. I stress that as civil society and citizens we must push the baseline much higher. We need a critical mass among investors to demand such transformative changes to bring about any significant changes.
